Not now….Maybe the next one

As we prep for the next healing retreat, scheduled to take place at the Discovery House on November 6th, I am struck by the continual response that we get from men when asked to attend the retreat:

“Thank you, but I can’t make it.  Maybe I can attend the next one.”

I know they mean well, really I do.  I honestly don’t question their integrity either.  I understand exactly where this comment comes from….fear.  It is fear that keeps a man away from the healing that God has for them.  Change is also a big factor too.  Many fear that God will ask them to make changes in their life and frankly, that is a scary proposition.  As I have blogged previously about “pulling the trigger”, men struggle to commit, hence an ambiguous lack of commitment is the best they can offer.  Sorry brothers, it is time to lose that negative self talk and courageously step out of your comfort zone.

If I could promise you that God has something truly remarkable awaiting you when you take that leap of faith, would you do it?  Seriously, if I could make that a certainty, would you come?  Yes?  No?  Maybe?  What is it going to be?  Do you need a guarantee of something before you do it?  Are there things worth risking despite uncertainty?

Regardless of the answers to these questions, The King’s Men apostolate is here for you men and so is our Lord.  We are both waiting to walk with you on your journey.  God has a plan for your life and your past hurts, pains, trials and struggles are not devoid of meaning.  The Samson Retreat has powerfully taken nearly 100 men on a journey of discovery.  Many were hesitant to come, but found the great gift contained in their submission to attend.

The Hound of Heaven continues to pursue all in need of healing.  He will not stop pursuing.  Will you allow Him to take you to a place, a sacred place, where healing is truly possible?  Please consider this invitation and by all means, share the invitation with those in need of it.

No Mark, not now.  I am not ready.  NONSENSE!  That is the devil talking and together, we can rebuke that lie.  If you keep saying such things, you will allow the Prince of Darkness to continue to hold you back from the freedom, joy and peace that the Lord has waiting for you.  All that is needed is a little bit of faith, the size of a mustard seed, and some courage to say YES!
